About the Project
Nestled in the idyllic seaside suburb of Freshwater, this contemporary family home balances beachside sensitivity with the understated elegance of Nobu-inspired design. Designed for a young family, the house harmonizes with its coastal environment while making a subtle yet striking statement on its prominent corner position.
The architecture maximizes the unique corner lot, transforming it into a landmark that feels calm and serene. The house’s form and materials work together to create a sense of warmth and natural beauty, blending with the local surroundings. The material palette includes rammed earth, face brick, Venetian plaster, and bent timber, bringing texture and depth to the exterior and interior spaces. Subtle metal accents complement the natural materials, adding a refined edge without overwhelming the design’s tranquillity.
Inside, the home is a sanctuary that reflects both beachside living and modern family life. Expansive windows invite natural light and ocean breezes, while carefully curated outdoor spaces provide the perfect backdrop for relaxed coastal living. Functional and flexible amenities cater to the dynamic needs of the family, offering spaces for both gathering and quiet reflection.
This home is both a testament to modern design and a response to its coastal setting—quietly iconic, with an effortless sense of luxury and simplicity.
